Vivid, Deep, Rich Sapphire! When viewed in natural, northern-exposure daylight (the accepted standard for color-grading gemstones), this gem is vibrant beautiful blue. . When viewed under most artificial light sources, its color changes, depending on the light-source. Light sources that have more of the red portion of the spectrum give this gem a purplish/violetish tint. .When viewed in light that is very strong in the red portion of the spectrum (incandescent light bulbs are typical of this), the color completely changes to violet or purple! . . Don't settle for just one color in your sapphire when you can have the whole range: deep, rich blue to violet- purple with all the infinite variations in between!. Clarity: MI2. Untreated sapphire indicated by: intact, unaltered silk.

.49 carat round, intense dark blue. This gem has a large face-up size for its weight because the gem-cutter was working with a piece of "rough" that was quite thin and wide. The result is a stone with a "big face". .. The downside of this style of cutting is it gives a large "window" in the center of the stone. A window is an area of reduced brilliance because light "leaks" out through the back of the stone instead of being reflected .. back up through the crown towards the eye of the observer. .. If you want a stone with fine rich blue color but you're on a budget, this one will give you the largest appearing gem at the most reasonable price. .. Clarity: (MI1) Freedom from heat-treatment indicated by: Intact, unaltered "silk". Price: $425. ....

Clarity Grading: Blue Sapphire clarity grades are assigned when a trained, experienced gemologist examines the gem "face-up" under controlled lighting without magnification. . Sapphire clarity grades are assigned without magnification. Sapphire clarity grades are determined by an inclusion's visibility, or lack of visibility, to the naked eye.. This is the procedure at the major Gem Labs. . This is in sharp contrast to diamond grading where 10X magnification is required. The top sapphire clarity grade at American Gemological Laboratory is "Free of Inclusion" . and the top sapphire clarity grade at Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences is "Flawless". . According to the Gemological Institute of America's Revised Colored Stone Grading Lab Manual, the top clarity . These grades are assigned when an experienced, fully-trained gem-grader is unable to see any inclusions under ideal lighting conditions and without magnification. . When examined under magnification, almost all sapphires show some natural inclusions, regardless. of whether these inclusions are visible to the naked eye. . So, a sapphire that is accurately graded . "Flawless" or "Free of Inclusion" or "Eye-clean" almost certainly contains inclusions at some level of. magnification. (As do most Flawless diamonds!). 10X is the basis for diamond clarity grading. Naked-eye is the basis for sapphire clarity grading. Diamonds and sapphires almost always show natural inclusions if the magnification is high enough..

Moderately Included 2 (MI2) inclusions have a slight effect on appearance but do not affect brilliance. These inclusions are often not visible to the casual observer. ... Highly Included 1 (HI1) Inclusions are obvious and have a slight effect on appearance. Highly Included 2 (HI2) Inclusions are obvious and have a significant effect on. appearance and brilliance.. Extremely Included 1 (EI1) Inclusions are prominent with significant effect on appearance, brilliance and transparency.. Proportion Grading Of Blue Sapphires |
Good proportions in gems are found when the crown angles and pavilion angles. Proportions are more important in diamond grading.than in colored stone grading. Excellent proportions are essential to the beauty of a diamond. The entire visual impact of a diamond is created.by light rays reflected from its surface and refracted from within it.. In all colored stones (all gems other than diamonds),.color is a more important contributor.. The cutter of blue sapphires saves as much weight from the rough . |
