Experience the pleasure of owning and wearing Nature's authentic gem

set in your Bridal Ring!

Your One-of-a-Kind Sapphire,

completely free of all enhancements and treatments,

is the perfect centerpiece of your own

unique Bridal Ring.

Do you prefer deep-evening Blue or clear, light sky Blue Sapphire for the

Engagement Ring of your dreams?

Have you considered Golden Yellow,

or Lightest Pastel Yellow Sapphire?

Or cool, icy White Sapphire or even Pink Sapphire?.

Here's Why Your Certified Unheated Sapphire from www.sapphires.ca
is Your Authentic Choice for Your Engagement Ring:

You love beauty, originality and true color. You're not blinded by the surface appearance of heat-treated gem stones that have been artificially enhanced in a factory.

Your personal standards demand certified unheated sapphire's authentic color; true color formed by Nature deep within the Earth.

Throughout recorded history, there has never been a worthwhile alternative to gemstone authenticity.

That hasn't changed.

How to find the ring of your dreams:

You can choose from a "Stock" mount that's ready to accept your sapphire.

Stock mounts

are available from almost every jeweler.

Stock Mounts (sometimes called "semi-mounts") are rings that are ready to be

set with your sapphire;

they're all finished except for your gem.

There are literally thousands of stock mounts available, from solitaire engagement ring styles

to big, bold, dramatic pieces.

And your jeweler.can assemble any style you wish!

Here are some popular sapphire engagement ring styles widely available as Stock Mounts

Another option is to order a custom-made unheated sapphire engagement ring

from your jeweler or goldsmith.

Custom-made rings are designed and created just for you

by a skilled, competent goldsmith.

After you've given the goldsmith / jeweler your ideas,

the goldsmith will make some sketches to show you.

With custom-made, you can easily make changes to the design while it's still a sketch.

Custom engagement rings are usually more expensive than stock mounts .

Choice of Metal for Your Sapphire Engagement Ring

Do you like the cool purity of the white metals: platinum, palladium, white gold?

Or does the classic richness of yellow gold appeal to you?

Each metal has its own characteristics and benefits that can influence which one you choose for

your sapphire engagement ring.

Platinum

first became popular for engagement rings about a century ago.

Platinum has exceptional durability and is the best choice for the part of your engagement ring that holds the gem in place.

It's also excellent

for the ring shank because it withstands wear so well.

Platinum engagement rings can be made with the finest detail and most intricate designs

because the metal is so long-wearing and durable.

Platinum is a demanding metal to work with and the finished engagement ring is usually more expensive than

engagement rings made with any other metal.

Palladium

is a member of the "platinum group" of metals. It has many of platinum's qualities of durability and "workability".

Palladium is darker than platinum and is less expensive.

Its lower cost makes it attractive for your sapphire engagement ring but it is distinctly darker than platinum or most white gold alloys.

White gold

is made by alloying pure (yellow) gold with a white metal such as palladium.

White gold comes in a variety of shades, some "warmer" and some "cooler", depending on the alloy used.

White gold is usually less expensive than platinum.

Yellow gold

has been used for engagement rings

from the beginning!

Clients who prefer the richness and warmth of yellow gold

have a variety of shades to choose from:

pure, golden yellow to pink gold and reddish "rose" gold.

Sapphire engagement rings made with yellow gold have a richness of color that's very striking

because blue and gold make a regal combination!

The drawback with yellow gold is that it wears down faster than white gold, platinum or palladium.

If yellow gold appeals to you but you want the security for your gem that platinum gives,

your jeweler can easily use a platinum prong assembly

(often referred to as the "head") to hold the gem

and a yellow gold shank to make up the rest of your engagement ring.

"You patiently helped me find the perfect sapphire and I am thrilled about the final result.  The ring is absolutely gorgeous, and I feel so lucky that I get to wear it every day!  I just want to thank you once again for your expertise and willingness to help me find just the right stone for my engagement ring."

Sincerely,

A note about gem mining in Sri Lanka:

Mining practices in Sri Lanka are government-regulated to
reduce negative environmental and social impact.

Use of Heavy-equipment and strip-mining are prohibited.
All the mining operations I'm familiar with are small operations in which each participant shares in the profit of the venture.

Mine shafts are dug using hand-tools.
When the underground source-gravel is located,
the gem-bearing gravel is scooped into wicker baskets which are either carried or thrown in-relay up to the surface.

Once the gravel is above-ground, rough sapphire crystals are separated by
"panning" in water--similar to panning for gold.

It's fair to say that sapphire mining in Sri Lanka is ethical;
it's done with safeguards for the environment and with a tradition of sharing in the profit when gems are found.

But it's still dangerous and sometimes yields nothing for the people
who take the risks.
