Proportion Grading Of Yellow Sapphires

Good proportions in gems are found when the crown angles and pavilion angles.
are within acceptable ranges, resulting in the pavilion (bottom)....
and the crown (top) of the stone being neither too deep nor too shallow.....

Proportions are more important in diamond grading.than in colored stone grading.

Excellent proportions are essential to the beauty of a diamond.
because proportions determine how light is reflected from the surface....
of the diamond and how light is refracted from within it.....

The entire visual impact of a diamond is created.by light rays reflected from its surface and refracted from within it..

In all colored stones (all gems other than diamonds),.color is a more important contributor..
to the gem's beauty than proportions.....

it's found in the mine) has its own unique shape...
